Reliability is the foundation of every successful chemical shipment—every load must arrive on time, in perfect condition, with no room for error. Some substances are sensitive to moisture, while others require strict temperature control, and high-value freight demands careful handling. Maximizing payload efficiency and coordinating complex multi-stop deliveries add to the challenges. Success depends on more than just transportation—it requires expertise, specialized equipment, and a commitment to getting it right every time.

This is why Kenan Advantage Group (KAG) is essential.

KAG is a leading transportation and logistics provider serving a diverse range of end markets across North America, with a strong focus on chemical transportation.

“I would choose KAG because of our reliability and integrity. We win some business on price, but we win and maintain a lot more on service and relationships. We are ready to take on any challenge a customer presents,” says Mike Maloney, vice president of operations for KAG Specialty Products, a division of KAG.

KAG Specialty Products leverages deep industry knowledge to meet all delivery needs and improve operational execution. It customizes solutions to handle seasonal capacity increases and reduce costs within contract pricing structures—without compromising on safety, innovation, diversity, or the well-being of its people and the general public.
As the largest for-hire bulk liquid transportation provider in the U.S. and Canada, KAG delivers fuels and energy commodities, chemicals, dry bulk products, food-grade products, and cryogenics through its operating platforms. Each platform caters to industry-specific needs:

• KAG Specialty Products tackles the most challenging chemical shipments, handling nearly every type of chemical with expertise. With 85 percent of operations in dedicated contract carriage, reliability is a guarantee.

• KAG Energy fuels industries with gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and renewable energy sources.

• KAG Food Products plays an important role in feeding our nation by moving commodities such as edible oils, sweeteners, dairy products and juices as well as a fast-growing segment focused on hauling pet foods.

• KAG Merchant Gas ensures the safe transport of cryogenics, compressed gases, and even rocket fuel, using specialized high-value equipment.

• KAG Canada plays a crucial role in energy and specialty chemical transport, even supporting ice road construction.

• KAG Logistics streamlines supply chains with transportation management, unique capacity solutions, and 3PL services.

KAG operates with approximately 7,000 drivers, 13,000 trailers, and 300+ terminals and satellite locations, completing nearly 4 million deliveries annually across 48 states and Canada. Cross- border shipments into Mexico are managed through partner carriers. With over $2 billion in annual revenue and over 2,000 customers, KAG remains twice the size of its next-largest competitor, offering unmatched scale, reliability, and expertise across multiple industries.
  • I would choose KAG because of our reliability and integrity. We win some business on price, but we win and maintain a lot more on service and relationships. We are ready to take on any challenge a customer presents

Specialized equipment—including desiccant filters, nitrogen charging, temperature-controlled trailers, and compartmentalized tankers—ensures product integrity. The TripFocus customer portal, Power BI analytics, and modernized driver tablets enhance efficiency, while warehousing and dry bulk hauling expand KAG’s capabilities.

KAG goes beyond transportation by optimizing tank cleaning costs, customizing equipment, and leveraging technology for real-time tracking and temperature-sensitive hauling. With a commitment to compliance, safety, and tailored service—including white-glove solutions—KAG seamlessly integrates into customers’ supply chains. It solves complex challenges with expertise and innovation while maintaining the agility of a smaller, customer-focused firm.

A prime example of KAG’s reliability is a project with a manufacturer struggling with rising tank wash costs and delivery reliability. Their product was difficult to clean and not compatible with many materials from other shippers. Frequent tanker washouts were expensive, sometimes reaching over $1,000 per wash. KAG developed a dedicated fleet and implemented a product compatibility matrix, ensuring safe back-to-back shipments without unnecessary cleaning. Each load followed a strict approval process, maintaining efficiency without compromising product integrity. As a result, wash costs dropped by over 80%, while a team of 20 dedicated drivers strengthened on-site relationships. The manufacturer gained consistent service, significant savings, and a streamlined supply chain with minimal disruptions.

KAG stands apart with its flexibility and problem-solving approach, adapting to each customer’s needs rather than enforcing a one-size-fits-all model. Whether offering custom billing structures, specialized fleet configurations, or integrated tracking systems, KAG prioritizes efficiency and customer satisfaction. By delivering reliable, innovative, and customized solutions, KAG cements its role as a trusted partner in specialized transportation and logistics.
